Virginia Tech's E-Commerce and E-Government Lab is currently equipped with more than 30 state-of-the-art machines (Sun Enterprise 250, Sun Ultra 10, HP Kayak XU800 server, and HP Pentium III PCs).

Our WebDG system is being used as a core software platform to experiment the newly developed solutions.

Tools used in our research include CORBA products (Orbix, OrbixWeb, Visibroker, JavaIDL, etc), the agent-enabled ORB Voyager, RMI, DCOM, EJB and the IIOP standard, and HP E-Speak service platform. Several commercial databases are also used that include Sybase, Oracle, Informix, ObjectStore, DB2, and mSQL.  ODBC and JDBC are used to access databases from C++ and Java applications.  Some of our prototypes also make use of new Web service standards such as WSDL, UDDI, and SOAP.
